Crevasse, 2022
Crevasse | Oil on canvas 13x18 cm
"Crevasse" (2022), is a set of ten tiny oil paintings, all displaying a repetition of a round dark blue shape structured against a blue sky. A small yellow dot imperceptibly fluctuates and moves position on each canvas. The blue form produces a container of some sort, a hole; simultaneously, it reveals a sky horizon that opens up and wraps itself around the crevasse. As an evocation of our nature as beings, the series depicts the inner duration experience – actualization of time, turning the past into the present. Visually the works function as contraction and expansion, which refers to the philosopher Henri Bergson's concept of time, where everything is interconnected and unfolds simultaneously, like a never-ending assembly of moments. I like to think about my work as encounters, invitations to reconsider the world around us, opening up time in several directions, like a time capsule – our cosmos-body-house.
