Provisional Stability, 2022 | Oil on canvas 30x120 cm

“Provisional stability" (2022), three diptych paintings in long, narrow shapes depicting girls sleeping. Their bodies occupy almost the entire canvas as if they are encased or boxed. The paintings are divided more or less in the middle, so the limbs become separate as if articulating their parts. The upper part of the body leans flat on the wall, and the lower part with the limbs is positioned at an angle touching the ground. It emphasizes the idea of parts as if the figures were paper dolls silently placed against the wall. The disruption caused by the position of the canvases, transforms them into static puppets, either dreaming or dead? There is a hesitation; we are not entirely aware if they are standing, lying down, or weightlessness as if t suspended in time. Their faces and body positions reveal a familiar innocence and intimacy as if you are watching someone you know dearly sleeping. At the bottom of the three canvases, a bright yellow equilateral triangle function as a mark, holding its place as a symbol of protection.
